Vendor Spotlight – Getting to Know Alive Studios Photography
We have had the pleasure of getting to know Benjamin at Alive Studios for a few years now. One of the ladies here at Rembrandt Yard even used him for her very own engagement pictures a few Summers back! The one thing she recalls most about her shoot is how “at ease” Benjamin made her feel throughout the entire shoot. Not only did she feel uncomfortable being in front of the camera, but so did her fiancé, and looking back at the images Benjamin captured you would have never guessed! Read on to find out why else Alive Studios Photography would make an excellent addition to your wedding.
Please tell us a little about your company, and how you got started in the industry.
[My] first “professional” wedding was an accident. [I] shot six roles of “film” at a girlfriends sisters’ wedding, and the photographer who was hired to shoot blew it and didn’t get anything. Fortunately the images [I] shot were quite good and the couple bought the negatives from [me]. Over the next few years [I] slowly transitioned from [my] engineering job to a full time wedding photographer. This culminated with a move from upstate New York to Boulder where [my] business really took off. [My] casual artistic style is well balanced with the knowledge of how people interact with their environment and move through a wedding day. This gives [me] a unique approach to capturing magical images.
What do you love most about what you do?
Capturing the inner beauty of love that exist between couples, or drawing out an individual’s personality is awesome. [I] love the diversity and challenge of working with so many different personalities. And, of course, when [I do] this well, [I] loves the emotion people share upon viewing their pictures.
What are three things you couldn’t live without?
My camera, Music, and the Great Outdoors!
What differentiates you from other photographers in the area?
I like what this recent couple said about me… “What a whirlwind adventure that was!! Bill said, “That’s how the craft of a phenomenal photographer plays out. The ability to create great energy and enthusiasm in unique weather, and in turn capture timeless photos. That’s exactly what Benjamin successfully did.” I absolutely agree with Bill’s statement. “That’s why you are our photographer. You have a mesmerizing ability to seize the essence of the moment, which makes you a great artist.”
Do you have any hidden talents?
I can dance on Rollerblades… And, I’m an incredible ping pong player!
