Please tell us a little about Lana’s Shop and how it got started.
Lana’s Shop, is an illustration and design studio that specializes in creating one-of-a-kind, vibrant paper goods that feature hand illustrated designs, lettering and total customization. The company was born out of my love for bright, organic designs, all things patterned, and making sincere, heartfelt connections between people. I began my career at Vogue as a Graphic Designer where I worked with the most creative and incredible people, many of whom are still my friends and mentors. It was here that I received the encouragement to draw at every opportunity, such as making cards for staff members’ birthdays and other occasions.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Mostly through my amazing clients who have such passion, vision and beautiful stories to tell. I get to put their vision onto paper for them to enjoy forever. I love how this always allows my projects to be new and different since everyone’s stories are unique. Also, I can’t get enough of furniture, fabrics, architecture, botanics and children’s books, to inspire me.
If you had to choose three words to describe the style of Lana’s Shop, what would they be?
Cheerful. Personal. Natural.
What is your favorite part about what you do, and why?
The kind notes and hugs I receive after my projects are complete. I love connecting with my clients while creating their dream paper goods. For me, making sure that everyone is beyond happy in the end, is what it is all about!
What advice would you give to a couple searching for the perfect stationer?
Your save the dates, invitations and all the special day of details like menus and programs can truly set the tone of the weekend. If you’re going to go the custom route, make sure to find someone that you can trust your vision with and you feel wants to make it absolutely perfect. Ask how many rounds of revisions are included and be sure they can work with your timeline. If any part of the planning process should be totally enjoyable, it’s the paper!! So have fun with it!
What would we be surprised to learn about you?
I am originally from good ol’ Long Island, NY. I never had an accent so you’d never know, but I have an East Coast side for sure. My parents happily retired to Colorado 7 years ago. When I came out to visit them I fell in love with my now husband and currently we all live here. I can’t imagine being anywhere else.
