Vendor Spotlight: Savory Cuisines Catering
It is time to feature another one of our ten amazing preferred caterers! This month, we chatted with Emily Stellick from Savory Cuisines Catering. They have been on our preferred catering list for many years, and we feel like they are continuously re-inventing themselves. They blew us away at this last year’s Boulder Wedding Showcase with their style, staff, and oh-so-tasty treats! Not to mention, everyone here at Rembrandt Yard loves working with Emily because she is so sweet, dedicated, and always executes the client’s vision perfectly. Tell us a little bit about Savory Cuisines and how the business got started:
Our business was started by our fearless leader, Bob Sargent, 15 years ago. The first catering order that came in, he went out and purchased a catering van! Luckily for all of us, it only took off from there. Now Savory Cuisines Catering is a full-service catering company in Boulder, known for exceptional food and service for corporate functions, weddings, and special events.
What would you say makes you stand out from other caterers in the area?
Our custom menus, fresh ingredients, and customer service is what makes us stand out from other similar vendors. We have an amazing team of planners that really take the time to get to know you and your vision, to create a menu that is built specifically to make your dreams a reality. Our food is all prepared with the freshest ingredients. We make our own sauces, stocks, smoke our own meats, and prepare everything from scratch. As far as customer service, we are with you every step of the process, beyond just the spectacular food we serve. We are the machine behind your event that makes for a flawless occasion!
What has been your most memorable event?
I have so many! There was one event last year and it had such a fun menu. One of the hors d’oeuvres on it was a towering cheese wheel cake. We ordered in different cheeses, stacked them high and covered it in figs, berries, jams and honeys. It was glorious!
What inspires you?
The people I work with. Our company is filled with so many culinary geniuses, fun party planners, creative staff, and they all have amazing ideas on how to improve tablescapes, offer different menu items, and create better systems in our company.
What are other types of events you like to work besides weddings?
I love helping plan company holiday parties. It is such a fun chance to offer really creative ways to serve amazing comfort food. We recently did a holiday party that included a live risotto station, mashed potato bar, and towering dessert display.
Do you have any interesting or unknown facts about Savory?
I can think of two off the top of my head…
First, one of our Head Chef’s is Vegan. This allows us the ability to offer amazing vegan options for our clients.
Secondly, we were the kitchen and amazing food behind Avery Brewing Co. at their first location on Arapahoe Road. The amazing Sweet Potato Tots Smothered in Green Chili was Savory.
Mmmmm…. green chili sweet potato tots…
What’s next for the business?
A lot! We are rapidly expanding and it is so exciting. We recently began using a new software allowing us better communication with our clients regarding proposals and contracts. We will now begin baking our own bread in house so we can offer artisan breads to go along with our amazing food. There are a lot of great changes coming to Savory Cuisines!
It’s your day off, and it’s beautiful outside. What are you doing?
My favorite Colorado activity is camping. I love going out to find a great spot, have a campfire, cook tinfoil dinners, and hang out with friends in beautiful Colorado.
It’s your day off again, but it’s snowy and cold. What are you doing?
Watching a Harry Potter marathon with hot chocolate.
What’s are some of your favorite foods?
I love curry, I could eat it every night. I also really love dessert – all kinds and all the time – cannoli’s, ice cream, cupcakes, chocolate, all of it!
We are right there with you, Emily!
Btw, Savory’s cannoli’s are AMAZING.
