Jazz Up Your Holiday Party with These Fun Cocktail Ideas
The holiday season has officially arrived. The time for company parties, family gatherings, friend reunions, you name it, and you know wherever there’s a party, there are cocktails. Champagne and mulled wine are great, but don’t you sometimes feel like breaking away from tradition and shaking up a killer cocktail that will wake up the holiday spirit and wow your guests?
Its time to get creative and add a little twist to your holiday party with these fun cocktail ideas.
Pomegranate Ginger Holiday Sangria
If you feel like sangria is more of a summery drink, you haven’t tried this perfect holiday version. A great blend of red wine, pomegranate, and kombucha —That’s right! Kombucha— and fruit will add a little “umph” to any holiday gathering and give you a good dose of antioxidants.
Ingredients
1 bottle of red wine of your choice
1/2 cup of brandy
1/2 cup of pomegranate juice
1/2 cup of ginger kombucha, like Rowdy Mermaid’s Living Ginger
Seeds from 1 pomegranate
1 apple, sliced
1 pear, sliced
3 cinnamon sticks
Ice
Instructions
Throw everything together in a beautiful, large pitcher and stir it. Let it sit in the fridge overnight to get the flavors going. Serve over ice and garnish with some cinnamon sticks and extra fruit.
Spicy Cinnamon Coffee Cocktail
If you’re looking to warm up after dinner, you just hit the jackpot. The spice of the chili vodka, the warmth of the cinnamon syrup with the coffee, are a match made in holiday heaven.
Ingredients
1 ounce of chili vodka or other chili liquor
1 shot of espresso, like this tremendous organic espresso from Ozo Coffee
1/4 ounce cinnamon syrup*
lemon zest to taste
cinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon, to garnish
Instructions
Pour everything, minus the lemon zest, into a shaker with ice, shake 15 seconds, and strain into a glass with ice. Add lemon zest on top, garnish with ground cinnamon and add a cinnamon stick. It makes 1 serving.
*If you can’t find store-bought cinnamon syrup, you can make your own with equal parts sugar and water and some cinnamon sticks. Just bring the water to a boil in a saucepan, add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Bring the heat down, add the cinnamon sticks, cover and let it simmer for 15 minutes.
Black Velvet Cocktail
A great party needs a great cocktail, and this one won’t disappoint.
Ingredients
4 ounces of stout beer, chilled
4 ounces of brut sparkling wine, chilled
1 teaspoon of Creme de Cassis or Creme de Mure
Brandied or other liqueur-soaked cherries
Instructions
Pour the sparkling wine into a chilled coupe, add the stout beer —Avery Brewing Co’s Vanilla Stout would be great in this—and the Creme de Cassis or Creme de Mure, top with a cherry and serve.
